FINALLY going to Haiti!

(Photo cred: http://kidsblogs.nationalgeographic.com)

Some of you might remember that I was all lined up to go to Haiti last summer and then had to cancel my trip due to a bunch of things happening (mostly, getting a job!). Well, it looks like I will finally get the opportunity to go in March (yes, THAT soon)! Now, more than ever, I feel like this is the exact time I am supposed to be there…to help with the rebuilding process from the earthquake.

During the week we are there, we will spend most of our days helping at the orphanage in Carrefour. There is a lot of work to be done…as I’m sure you can imagine.  I am incredibly anxious to be a part of this trip.  Ever since the earthquake hit, I’ve had an intense longing to do something more hands-on than collecting donations, giving money, raising awareness…I NEED to feel like I am actively doing something to help.  My friends at BGM are an amazing group of people that I am VERY excited about traveling and working with.  They are the real deal.

So, the next step is to get the money I need to go.  Overall, the trip isn’t that expensive for a missions trip.  In total, I need to raise $1500 to cover my travel, room & board.  My GOAL, however, is to raise double that…$3000…to be able to put towards additional medical supplies, food and water that is desperately needed at the orphanage.

Will you help? I am not asking anyone to give ginormous amounts…just something that makes a difference.  If that’s $10, awesome!  If that’s $100, great!  I am just looking for people who believe in serving our brothers and sisters in Haiti and are willing to help enable me to go and be hands-on in that service.

If you are willing to give financially towards the cost of my trip and supplies, CLICK HERE.

Thank you, in advance, for your help in this important effort!  To get more information or to stay informed about my trip and the situation in Haiti, please feel free to visit my Haiti site.

neglect

I've neglected my blog and I'm ok with that.  I think 2010 will be the year of better blogging, but I've got to get through these next few weeks of insanity first.  I hope to blog a little over Christmas and maybe some from Phoenix.

Yeah, that's what I'll do.

But, will I?

off kilter

Some days and times find me off kilter and I get frustrated that I can't seemingly do anything about it. I need to give myself the space to figure things out, but struggle with the control aspect of it all…or lack of control?!

Trusting that God has the bigger picture in front of me is tough, but I want to be faithful to do just that. So, my prayer is for my faith to increase, trust to skyrocket and fears to subside.

Ok, that is all. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
