How is it possible that Maryland was hotter and more disgusting than Tennessee? Who knows, but it was. My parents ALSO don’t have air conditioning in their house (never have…seriously?!), so the whole weekend was one big sweaty fest of family fun. Thank goodness they have window units for the bedrooms or we would have probably died. Literally. It was THAT hot and humid. But, we survived and had a blast. Andy even shelled and ate his first crabs. The jury is still out on whether he actually liked them, but he said he would try them again next year and see. Ha.
I forgot to take pictures, probably because it was so hot…my brain was melting. I did snap a few on our walk by the Bay. I also took one of Bella before she escaped from the back porch and jumped in the coy pond. Yikes. She was hot too, so I can’t really blame her. No fish were harmed in her escape, though.

In a few short hours, we will be on the very long road to Maryland. We = me, Andy, Midi, Indigo & Bella. 2 humans and 3 dogs (and luggage) strategically placed in the ol’ Honda Element. I wish there was room for the bikes, but that would be a little over the top. If I had a bike rack, life would be super duper. But, that’s not happening anytime soon. I’m really looking forward to a few days with my family and friends! It’s been quite a while since I’ve been there!!! Crazy how time flies by. And, I’m REALLY looking forward to eating some Maryland crabs…yum. What I’m NOT looking forward to is the impending 12 hour overnight drive. I love driving at night because there is less traffic, but the older I get, the less I like to road trip for that long of a time. It is always nice having someone to road trip with, especially my favorite person in the world, but it will still be a bugger of a trip! Oh well, the end will be worth it! So, catch ya on the East side. I will post some pics from our great mid-Atlantic adventures, I’m sure!
As you know by now, I’m going to Haiti in March…still raising funds for that trip, so if you are able to help out (even a little bit helps, I promise!!!), please do! I will be forever grateful and thankful for your investment in this opportunity I have been given.
Besides that, though, I have signed up to be a Tent Drive campaign leader with aHomeinHaiti….this is a really super duper freakin’ cool initiative to get physical homes to the Haitian people who are without shelter going into the rainy season. Later today or this weekend, I will be posting details about the drive…where to drop off tents, how to give financially if you don’t want to buy a tent, etc.

For now, check out their site to get an idea of what will be happening around our country over the next 16 days!!!
