Beautiful Haiti

This is an incredibly beautiful country. We haven’t spent any time in Port au Prince (minus our first day), but the mountains are absolutely breathtaking. I took some sunset pics yesterday that couldn’t come close to the real thing!!!

Today, we undertook a lot of projects. Some worked on building houses for widows within a community, some worked on cleaning out supply rooms in the orphanage (& adding more supplies), and some (including me) worked on overhauling the guest house kitchen and putting together hygiene and clothes bags for 80 families in a thatch hut community that has never been visited. We will visit the village on Wednesday (probably…maybe tomorrow, we are flexible here!!!) and deliver the bags. We will also set up a medical clinic (5 nurses on our trip!) and give each family a 50 pound bag of rice. Talk about sharing Jesus!!!! I am incredibly honored to be able to serve in this way…blows my mind.

I just finished dinner, which was so yummy. Shepherd’s Pie, beef & potatoes, green beans, brown rice and bread. Uh, carb overload!!!! So delish, tho! We’ve also been given desert every night. Didn’t expect to gain weight on this trip, haha.

For your viewing pleasure, some gorgeous flowers…will post more work pics tomorrow! Peace!!!

Sorting supplies

These will be given to families in various villages and to the orphanage. It was quite an afternoon!!!

God isn’t American or white…just FYI

God reminded me today that he isn’t MY god. And by that, I mean he isn’t what I continually think of him as. He is HIMSELF an He is universal…and worthy of our universal worship and adoration.

I LOVED worshipping him in Creole. I had no idea what was being said (well, I recognized a few words), but it was so pure and unfiltered.

We just got back to the house, where we were greeted by a delicious lunch of spaghetti with hot dogs. Yep, who needs meat balls?! :0)

We will begin sorting supplies this afternoon for distribution this week. I’m excited about some of the work opportunities we have ahead of us…
