Going to Haiti.

I am going to Haiti in July.

I am excited.

I need to raise about $800, which seems not so much after my various Africa trips!  But, if you'd like to read more about the trip and potentially give a few bucks…just hop, skip & jump on over here!

Getting ready in the morning…

Is so much fun when you have two dogs that insist on being in the
bathroom with you…and, obviously, my bathroom is ginormous.

what side of the bed are you?

Last night, I was pondering the words of writers who influenced C. S. Lewis and somehow my mind started drifting to the idea of which side of the bed I slept on.  I decided to go with it thinking it might be some existential revelation I was having.  Not so much, but it was fun.

Anyway, I actually made a pretty interesting discovery about myself.  I found that I do not necessarily have a particular "side" of the bed.  Well, I do, but it's not your "run of the mill" side of the bed.  Let me explain.  In reflecting back over my previous bed placements in my various living situations, this is what I have found to be true about where I sleep (and it requires a numbering system):

1. In my own room (we will get to hotel rooms later), I will always sleep on the side of the bed that is closest to the door.  I have yet to come across an example in all of my thinking back where that is not true.  So, I have no preference for the left or right side…as long as it is closest to the door.

2.  If the bed is a twin or a full bed, I will sleep in the middle of the bed, but will enter the bed on the side that is closest to the door.

3.  Now, to talk hotel rooms: If there are two beds in the room (and I don't have to share the room), I will always pick the bed closest to the window, but sleep on the side closest to the door.  If I have to share the room and get relegated to the "other" bed, I will sleep on the side closest to the window.  It's the anomaly in this whole situation.

I think that covers all bases.  And now that I have admitted that I am crazy as hell, anyone else have any quirky issues they want to confess?! :O)
